7T Reflects on Rebrand, the Impact of the Pandemic and Dallas Area Startups
7T President Shane Long was recently interviewed by David Johnson on his CEO Spotlight podcast from news radio station KRLD. They started off by discussing how SevenTablets transitioned to become 7T before moving on to topics such as the Dallas Tech Scene and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on startups. Shane shared about the 7T Foundation Program and his extensive experience consulting with and funding startups, noting the “strong entrepreneurial community in Dallas.”
“Startups are our passion… we get excited about the startup, the guy who walks in with an idea, with a concept, with a knowledge, we want to help that person, and not just through coding; We want to help them build their business and help them consult along the way,” Long explained.
Whether they are looking for funding or development work, factors that often set successful startups apart include:
- Industry knowledge and experience;
- Innate knowledge of their domain;
- The ability to identify and understand a problem;
- A driving idea / passion / unique concept; and
- The ability to communicate.
Long added, “Most successful entrepreneurs we see… have problem-definition down completely; they’ve lived it, they know it, they feel the pain. Those are the guys who are solving the problems.”
To hear more of their discussion and their take on “the next big thing” in the tech industry, the full interview can be found on the KRLD website.
